FRANKLIN GROVE – The Franklin Grove Creek and Preservation Committee will hold an “Evening at the Mill" dinner and program on Saturday, April 29, at the Franklin Creek Grist Mill, located at 1893 Twist Road, Franklin Grove, within the Franklin Creek State Natural Area.
The program “Celebrate the Forest and the Trees” is a compilation of stories and poems about the wisdom of our woodlands read by local actor Scott Shepherd. Excerpts from the New York Times Best Seller, The Hidden Life of Trees offer fascinating insights – that trees have friendships, language and amazing relationships with the plants and animals of the forest. Selected stories and poems enhance this vivid voice by telling tales of those who depend on the woods for their lives, their livelihoods and their spiritual renewal
“Slow down and tune into the powerful language of nature”. Join the celebration of the woodlands, forests, trees and more throughout the year of 2017.
The program will follow a wonderful dinner that begins at 6 p.m. The grist mill will be open all afternoon for tours prior to the dinner.
Reservations are required. Tickets are $25 each (including dinner) and can be purchased at the Franklin Creek Grist Mill, on the Grist Mill website at www.franklincreekgristmill.com, or by calling the mill at 815-456-2718. Tickets must be purchased by Thursday, April 27, 2017.
All proceeds from the event will go to the maintenance and operation of the Franklin Creek Grist Mill and educational activities, which is operated by the Franklin Grove Creek & Preservation Committee, a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization.
