ROCHELLE — Goldie Doretta (Eppler) Reinke, age 96, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017 at the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. She was born Dec. 2, 1920 on the family farm in Ohiowa, Neb. the daughter of Henry and Louise (Domeier) Eppler.
The family moved to a farm in Chana, while she stayed in Nebraska until she graduated from high school in 1937. She married John L. Reinke on Sept. 24, 1939 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Paynes Point. She became a member of the church and was active in the Rebekah Circle, served on the church council, taught Sunday School and was also a member of the Pine Rock Garden Club.
Her hobbies included gardening, collecting salt and pepper shakers, cook books, plates and reading.
She is survived by two daughters; Lois Olson of Prosser, Wash. and Ruth (Vic) Wiley of Bloomington; daughter-in-law Lou Reinke of Rochelle and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband John, son David, parents, one great granddaughter Heather Fjetland, half brother Willie Schroeder, brothers: Lawrence, Elmer, Clarence, Melvin, LeRoy and Reuben; sisters Leona and Melvina Eppler, Ruby Rager, and Arlene Barr.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Paynes Point, with the Rev. Andrew Kayes, pastor of the church, officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street, Oregon.
Burial will be in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. A memorial fund is established for the Serenity Hospice and Home or the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
