Those looking for some good food to carry-out for a cause are invited to join Pegasus Special Riders as they hold a Pork Chop Pick-up Dinner at Ralphie and Lulu’s in Ashton on Thursday, October 22 from 4-7pm.
This event is a fundraiser for the organization located halfway between Franklin Grove and Oregon. Covid-19 has greatly impacted the services they offer. Rather than lessons starting in April, they only began in mid-August and with half the regular number of students. Both the Summer Family Picnic and the fall “Mane” Event fundraisers were cancelled.
Preorders are appreciated but not required. Meals are $10 each and include a pork chop, baked beans, au gratin potatoes and dessert. Pegasus has partnered with Kristie’s Sweet Treats Shop in Ashton and each meal will include a coupon for a free small soft serve ice cream cone.
All proceeds from the pork chop dinner sales will benefit Pegasus Special Riders.
Pegasus Special Riders is a non-profit organization providing therapeutic horseback riding to northern Illinois residence with physical, mental, and emotional challenges. Pegasus provides these services with the generous help of individuals, clubs, corporations, grants, fund raising and in-kind donations.
The organization is staffed by over 70 volunteers who are involved with all aspects of the program from horse care, horse handling during lessons and barn chores to fund raising and special events.
A quote they often use is “To ride a horse is to borrow freedom”. That feeling of freedom appears in the riders’ smiles and as they connect with their horses at each and every lesson. Please come out to support Pegasus in their 23rd year of operation.
