TEACHER FEATURE

Kelly Snyder

Kelley Snyder teaches 7 – 12 physical education. She has been teaching for 21 years, 19 of those years in the Franklin Center/AFC school districts.

She attended Kishwaukee College and Northern Illinois University.

“When I was pursuing my horticulture degree at Kishwaukee College,” said Snyder. “I struggled with self confidence and feared that I would not be able to pass the math courses that were required to become a teacher. Then one sunny Saturday afternoon, I met Don Capes. Don was a family friend and former counselor at Highland Community College. He passes away a few years ago, God bless him. He encouraged me and taught me how to conquer my fears and here I am. Sometimes we need the help from others to fully grasp our potential.”

As far as experiences go, she said “Hmmm! Well, the many crosses that I have had to carry throughout my life have become lighter each time I am able to help a student through similar situations.”

When she retires she plans to have FUN IN THE SUN.
