Varsity baseball recap

Week 3 of the Baseball season saw the Raiders play 5 games.  Game 1 was a match with rival Amboy.  Down 6 to 2 in the bottom of the 7th inning, the Raiders scored 4 runs to force extra innings.  Eventually the Raiders fell 12 to 6 in 8 innings.  Braiden Runkle (0-1) took the loss.  Offensively Jordan Harris was 2 for 2 with 3 runs scored.  Braiden Runkle was 1 for 3 with a run and rbi.  Game 2 saw the Raiders bounce back and defeat Amboy 11 to 2.  Michael Cochrane (2-0) got the win.  He stuck out 9 and walked 3 in five and two thirds innings.  Offensively Carson Rueff was 2 for 4 with 2 rbi's and 3 runs scored.  Evan Kopp was 3 for 5 with 2 rbi's.  "I was pleased with our fight tonight" Cissna stated.  "In the first game we forced extra innings and came back to win the second game.  I liked our effort." Amboy fell to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in conference.

Game 3 saw AFC fall to Milledgeville 3 to 2.  Evan Kopp (0-1) took the loss.  Offensively the Raiders were held to 3 hits for the night.  Peyton Lanning was 1 for 3 with a double and rbi.  Jared Warner was 1 for 2 and Carson Rueff was 1 for 3."We pitched well and played good defense, we just could not get anything going offensively"  Cissna stated.

Game 4 saw the rematch with Milledgeville.  The Missiles won 11 to 2.  Peyton Lanning (0-1) took the loss.  Offensively Carson Rueff was 2 for 4.  Evan Kopp, Jared Warner, Mason Munroe, and Griffin Bushman were each 1 for 3.  "We self-destructed on defense tonight and struggled to string hits together."  Cissna stated.  "We play parts of a game well, we just have to put it all together."  Milledgeville improved to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in conference.

Game 5 saw the Raiders travel to Hinckley Big Rock.  The Royals defeated the Raiders 8 to 2.  Braiden Runkle (0-2) took the loss.  Offensively Jordan Harris was 2 for 4 with a double.  Evan Kopp was 2 for 3 with an rbi.  Sean Lauer was 1 for 3.  "Another slow start for us" Cissna stated.  "We have to continue to get better and more consistent play."  Hinckley improved to 3 and 9 on the season.  AFC finished the week 2-6 overall and 1-5 in conference.  Next week the Raiders have road matchups with Freeport Aquin, Polo, and Oregon.
