What's happening at the nursing center

            BY KATHY CLARK

Wow! Green grass, sunshine and so many robins, we think for sure that it is spring, and we are loving it!

Our Auction this past week had all kinds of spring items, rabbits, Easter signs, spring door hangings and so much more. Everyone went away with a treasure that brought joy.  Some of the girls bought items to give to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It will be exciting to see their faces when they receive these gifts. We do so enjoy our Auction afternoons. You can check out our Facebook page for pictures of the fun afternoon.

This week we are welcoming Kenneth Brown from Ashton. It is a pleasure getting to know him and his family. We know he would welcome cards and greetings.

Saturday brought a fun time of decorating cupcakes for spring. The girls had so many beautiful pastel colors for us to choose from, plus a variety of sprinkles. The best part was the taste-testing when we were done frosting. They were delicious.

On Tuesday afternoon our friends from Vitas assisted with a Memories Service for friends who have passed away here. It was a very meaningful time of remembrance and sharing. We are grateful for the opportunity to remember and be blessed by precious memories.

Wednesday is “National Chocolate Mousse Day” and we can hardly wait to see how we will celebrate this wonderful holiday. Chocolate anything is a great favorite here at the center. If you are out and about we’d love to have you stop by and enjoy with us. We will also will be creating an Easter Egg Craft during the afternoon. We love to use our creative abilities and we you have to check out treasures.

This week we are congratulating Harold Risdon who has graduated from his Express Rehabilitation and returned to his home. We are so very proud of him and have enjoyed our time with him. He has promised to come visit and we will look forward to that.

Birthday greeting this week are going to Mary Jane Belha on April 4 and to Nancy Mueller on April 7. We wish you girls a beautiful birthday and many more.

On Monday afternoon we will be creating Easter Wreaths for our doors. It is really looking so spring-like here and we can’t wait to put these up. Our display across from the nurse’s station has a lovely spring scene and we have gotten so many compliments on that.  We hope that you will check it out when you visit.

We will be celebrating very special folks next week, Siblings. It is “National Siblings Week” and we can hardly wait. We are asking family and friends to bring in pictures of our siblings, family, cousins or friends that have been like siblings. If you have any of these pictures we would be delighted to share them. We will be creating a display for everyone to enjoy and on Friday, April 12  at 2:30 p.m. we will Celebrate Siblings. We are looking forward to sharing Magical Memories, plus we will have delicious treats. We hope that you will circle this date on your calendar and come join in the fun.

We hope that you have a beautiful week.
